Our new event "Measurement Systems in Action" took place under sunny skies at Rothenburg airfield in Germany on 5th July 2010. Ten exhibitors showed their latest Hard- and Software solutions for vehicle testing and development. Each exhibiting company equipped their cars with the latest data acquisition systems, measurement tools, sensors and software and offered all visitors the opportunity to see their measurement technology live! The runway of the airfield was soon transformed into a test track with many cars driving around showing off their latest vehicle testing tools live. Visitors could see the quality and precision of the data in real-time on a laptop.
OxTS showed the popular RT3000 GPS-aided inertial systems in combination with the RT-Range, the leading solution for testing advanced driver assistance systems. Another highlight of the event was the ABD steering robot which attracted the majority of the 70 visitors on the airfield. Together with the highly accurate RT3002 GPS and inertial platform, the steering robot performed path-following manoeuvres on the runway of the airfield with 2cm position accuracy even at high speeds. Test manoeuvres which were recorded during the first lap, could be repeated during the second round semi-autonomously - without touching the steering wheel! This equipment is ideal for vehicle test scenarios where utmost accuracy and maximum repeatability is required. "Measurement Systems in Action" proved to be a great event for everyone involved in vehicle testing, vehicle safety as well as research and development departments. The event was a perfect platform for discussions and exchange of information in a relaxed atmosphere and to see some practical, hands-on product demonstrations.
