IPAQ+ option in RT-Graph display software

18 December 2006

Ipaq in carWe have introduced a new output format on the RT3000 serial port, IPAQ+. This format aims to overcome the problems associated with Windows Mobile 5 crashing.

RT-Graph is a Pocket PC program that can be used to display the RT3000 measurements in real-time. Low cost mounting kits, vehicle power supplies and the low price of Pocket PCs themselves make this a very cost effective solution for displaying data to the driver.

Windows Mobile 5, the latest version of operating system for Pocket PCs, fails to turn on if the RT3000 is sending data to the Pocket PC when you press the “on” button. To recover, you have to reboot the Pocket PC. (You can see this happen even before you install RT-Graph).

The latest versions of the RT3000 software and of RT-Graph include a new output called IPAQ+. When selected the RT3000 does not output to the Pocket PC unless they are connected together. The Pocket PC “polls” the RT3000 regularly and the RT3000 sends the measurements back. When the Pocket PC is turned off it no longer polls the RT3000 and the RT3000 stops sending data.

To use the IPAQ+ format you need to have:

* Latest version of the RT3000 software (DevID 061209.14b or later)
* Latest version of the PC software (Dev ID 061214.14am or later)
* Latest version of RT-Graph (Dev ID 061218.14ba or later)

Combining IPAQ+ with any earlier versions of software will not work correctly.

Nearly all of the measurements made by the RT3000 can be displayed on the Pocket PCs screen. Quick and easy configuration changes are possible and new configurations can be saved and recalled.

We have tested RT-Graph on the following Pocket PC products:

HP hx2100

HP hx2700

plus several older Pocket PCs.
