Car-to-pedestrian communication
The RT-Backpack is ideal for car-to-pedestrian testing with the RT-Range. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) - where pedestrians are the obstacles - can use the RT-Backpack to give an accurate measurement of the distance from the car to the pedestrian.
The RT-Backpack works just like a Target in the RT-Range system, feeding real-time measurements to the Hunter vehicle using Wireless LAN. The Hunter tracks the Target just like the normal RT-Range, computes the measurements on-line and outputs them on the CAN bus. Display software for the PC is also available.
Included with the RT-Backpack is a frame to hold the RT3000 securely; a battery capable of powering the RT3000 for up to 5 hours; a precision GPS antenna with integral ground plate, suitable for use above the pedestrian's head; the Wireless LAN and a battery charger.
The data can be checked by the pedestrian, using RT-Graph software running on an IPAQ pocket PC. The IPAQ picks up the data using the Wireless LAN.
We have tested the Wireless LAN up to a range of 350m in open sky conditions, which is further than many radars can track pedestrians.
The RT-Backpack represents a turnkey solution for people needing to track the position of pedestrians relative to a moving vehicle. For more information please contact us.
