Super RCOM!
12 December 2008
OxTS have extended RCOM to include all the information about the hunter and target vehicles. This means that that all the RT-Range and RT3000 information can now be output in one file. This “super RCOM” message, sent from the RT-Range Hunter to the PC, streams all the NCOM data from the RT products together with the range and lane information from the RT-Range. The RT-Range Post-process option can export all the Range, Lane and NCOM data to one CSV file

This change is a major benefit to people who want to use the RT-Range to acquire the data, rather than using a separate CAN bus. On the CAN bus the data is already aligned and acquired by the acquisition system, usually in to one file. Now the RT-Range can do the same.
One advantage of the RT-Range Post-processing software over the CAN bus is that it will interpolate any missing packets that were lost by the WLAN transmission (up to 1s). This gives a more reliable data stream for the engineer who is analysing the data.
