RT Software Release December 2010, List of changes
Here is a list of changes that have been added to the RT software during this release.
The much anticipated cone placement tool has been added to Enginuity. This useful tool will help customers place cones accurately on proving grounds. To read more details about this, please read the corresponding news page here.
Improved wheel speed calculations
Improved wheel speed calculations have been added to the RT firmware. This is a significant improvement to the wheel speed processing in the RT products. This improvement is designed to make the position output of the RT even better in poor conditions where position is still available but can have large errors on it. See the news page for more details.
An option to select different between different altitude datums has been added to RT-Config in the latest release. This feature will be critical for our surveying customers. In the options page of RT-Config the new altitude option is used to change the altitude datum between geoidal and ellipsoidal. A constant offset (from the ellipsoidal altitude) can also be entered. The default datum is the geoid and this is the datum that was used by the RT until this option became available. See the news page for more details.
Triggered NMEA sentences have been added to the RT firmware and RT-Config. Wouldn’t it be easy if you could get an NMEA message that corresponded to the exact time that a photo was taken? Now you can. The RT systems can accurately capture the shutter closure of a camera using its event input. The firmware in the RT then generates an NMEA message, interpolated to the exact time that the camera image was taken. This message can be output on the serial port and later matched to each image. Geo-referencing made easy. This feature was originally developed for the Inertial+ systems. The functionality has now been added to the RT as well. Read more on the news page.
NMEA GSA and GSV messages
have been added to the list of NMEA messages that can be output by the RT.
RT Post-process
can now call RT-View to visualise the data before performing the CSV export. It is more obvious that you do not need to export the CSV data and you can use the NCOM output generated by the post-processing algorithms.
Support for Ethernet gateway.
It is now possible to configure a gateway in new RT products. Old products will need to come back to OxTS because an update to the operating system image is required. The new image will be used as part of normal calibration and firmware upgrade returns. RT-Config and RT Post-process are also capable of working through a gateway in order to talk to the RT.
Updated EGNOS settings
The EGNOS settings have been updated to reflect changes to the EGNOS satellite transmissions. This will result in better corrections being received across Europe,
Improvement to product identification
We have changed the way that different products can be identified from NCOM. This was put in place so that the correct housing can be identified for the RT2000 products in RT-Config. However, old products may be identified incorrectly since they may not have configuration files on them that accurately reflect their hardware status.
PTCF output added
The latest version of software has the PTCF output sentence added to the NMEA outputs. This output is a proprietary output which follows the format of normal NMEA sentences. It is described in the latest version of the NMEA description manual.
Added IP address box to Quick Config, Advanced page of Enginuity
There are times when Enginuity is not receiving data from an RT but the user still needs to send a command to that RT (for example, through a gateway). An option to specify the IP address of the RT is now available on the Quick Config, Advance page of Enginuity when there are no RTs on the network.
Serial port baud rate selection
This has been changed so that the baud rate of the serial port can be set even when the serial port output is disabled. This allows commands to be sent to the serial port even when no outputs have been configured.
Improved the automatic IP address configuration
RT Config will attempt to change the PCs IP address automatically if the current address is unable to communicate with the RT. The functionality for doing this has been improved but it can still be blocked by the operating system for non administrator users.
