Dear customer,

The focus for this RT software release is in algorithm improvements. For a couple of years we have been studying our core navigation system algorithms and working out how we can improve these. We have tried several new ideas and now implemented the most successful ones. This release contains some new changes that result in significant improvements to the overall processing. We have more milestones coming up in future releases that will result in even more improvements. The new software update is now available which will include the following:

Forwards and backwards processing

148_FBProcessingNormally the RT data can only be processed forwards in time. In post-processing the new RT Post-process has an option to process both forwards and backwards in time so that each measurement is a blend of everything that has happened up to now and everything that will happen in the future – theoretically resulting in a 1.4 times improvement in performance. OxTS gx GPS processing algorithm

148_gxThe new software can bypass some processing in the GPS card and use the raw data from the GPS receiver to compute position and velocity. The main benefit here is to the RT2500 and the RT2502, where there is a 25% improvement to velocity accuracy when the gx algorithm is used. This is the first milestone in our gx processing algorithms, with future milestones including differential processing of the RT2500 and differential post-processing of the RT3000 and RT4000 products. Read more…

 

OxTS UDP Server

148_UDPRun Enginuity, RT-Range, RT-Config together with the OxTS UDP Server! OxTS is releasing a UDP server for the RT products which will share the information from any RT so that several applications can access them at the same time. The OxTS UDP Server installs as a service and opens the port when the computer starts. This ensures that no application can open the port before the server. When each application starts it will look for the UDP Server before it tries to open the port. If the server is there then it will get data from the server instead of from the port. Read more…

 

Filtered acceleration output

148_FilteredAccelerationBy popular demand (and against our better judgement!) we have added an option to filter the accelerations from the RT products. There is now an option to filter the linear accelerations in the same way as the angular accelerations. The filtered outputs will be available on the CAN bus and the latest NCOM decoders will compute the filtered outputs as the data is decoded. Read more on our website…

 

GrafNav version 8.3 support

148_GrafNavThe latest version of RT Post-process is now compatible with GrafNav version 8.3. GrafNav is used by many people to post-process the GPS data so that a radio modem is not needed for differential corrections. RT Post-process can call the GPS processing algorithms in GrafNav directly so that the user does not need to learn how to use GrafNav. The output of GrafNav is seamlessly merged with inertial data in RT Post-process. Read more…

 

RT-UPS in production

148_RTUPSThe new RT-UPS has been released. This is a compact and reliable uninterruptible power supply for vehicle applications. It accepts 9-48V input and can power a 12V 2A output for up to 3 minutes. Its primary aim is to stop the RT products from shutting down when there are problems with the cigarette lighter socket or when there are spikes in the power supply (e.g. engine cranking). RT-View Units

148_RT-ViewWe have added even better support for units in RT-View. It is now possible to configure graphs so that they use the “default” unit. Then, when the defaults are changed, all the graphs update automatically. This helps us give out templates that reflect the default units that customers have chosen. Please do not hesitate to contact our support department to find out more.

 

New cone placement files

148_ConePlacementFilesWe have created a webpage to hold example cone placement files. These can be used with the useful cone placement feature of Enginuity, which was released last year and received very well. This new, ingenious feature makes it easy and quick to lay out cones accurately on a proving ground. The new files include circles, slaloms and lane changes. Read more on our website…

 

MCOM output from RT Post-process

MCOM is an extended version of our normal NCOM output that is used in the marine industry. MCOM is used by several software packages used in the marine industry and these can now benefit from post-processing, including using GrafNav to improve the accuracy of position in post-processing. Unfortunately the MCOM output does not support forwards and backwards processing.
