The National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Testing Zone is in Xiangjiang New District, Hunan Province, and is the main test site for the Safety of The Intended Functionality Test (SOTIF) and Intelligent Vehicle confidence test (C-IAC). In the test area, there is a unique rain and fog simulation tunnel to test the performance of vehicles under rain/fog/dust and special light. Here, we used the OxTS Georeferencer mapping tool to complete the mapping of the whole tunnel, and obtained a high-precision three-dimensional point cloud.
OxTS Georeferencer is a mapping application software tool developed by OxTS, which combines INS navigation data with LiDAR raw data to create highly accurate 3D pointclouds. The OxTS Georeferencer software covers PTP time synchronisation of LiDAR and automatic position and orientation calibration. In the process of mapping, the user’s laptop will collect LiDAR and INS data at the same time and automatically align according to the time. In the process of mapping, as the vehicle travels through the tunnel, LiDAR installed on the roof of the vehicle can obtain the profiles of different planes of the mapping object, so as to establish a complete three-dimensional pointcloud.
You can find out more about the OxTS Georeferencer here, and if you have a mapping project that needs accurate pointclouds, get in touch with the team.
Finally, thank you to The National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Testing Zone, Hunan Accurate Co., for their strong support of this mapping project.
