data is required.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any navigation engine that uses GNSS to calculate position is susceptible to position drift and the longer the device is without GNSS signal, the more severe the mb-6\">Position Drift<\/h4>\n\n                <div class=\"mb-4\"><p>Position drift isn\u2019t a challenge in open-sky conditions, however, in areas with poor GNSS visibility, such as urban canyons, it is important to ensure position drift is kept to a minimum to protect the integrity of a dataset. To minimise the effects of position drift, other aiding sources, such as LiDAR, are required.<\/p>\n<p>OXTS LIO, is an optional feature that uses velocity data from a LiDAR sensor to improve vehicle position measurements. The data is fed into the device&#8217;s navigation engine to compensate for missing or erroneous GNSS data.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n                                    <div class=\"mt-16 mb-4 hidden \n\n    <h4 class=\"h4 mb-6\">How does LIO work?<\/h4>\n\n                <div class=\"mb-4\"><p>LiDAR Inertial Odometry (LIO) uses LiDAR as an aiding source to the INS. As the optimum number of satellites will be in view, using an additional aiding source to achieve RTK accuracy should not be needed.<\/p>\n<p>Where customers will witness most performance improvement is in environments where GNSS signal is difficult to obtain consistently, or even at all.<\/p>\n<p>Urban areas with many buildings and flat planar surfaces, or tunnels are therefore perfect
