Mientras que algunas transmisiones, como la televisi\u00f3n y la radio, nos entretienen, otras, como el GPS, nos proporcionan una informaci\u00f3n inestimable sin la que estar\u00edamos literalmente perdidos. Sin embargo, a pesar de la importancia del GPS en nuestra vida cotidiana, en general entendemos muy poco sobre su funcionamiento.<\/p>\n<p>Aqu\u00ed arrojaremos un poco de luz sobre el tema de la navegaci\u00f3n por sat\u00e9lite. Profundizaremos m\u00e1s que algunas explicaciones, pero evitaremos las cosas complicadas que s\u00f3lo necesitan saber los ingenieros de sistemas. El t\u00e9rmino GPS es en realidad el nombre del sistema creado por el ej\u00e9rcito estadounidense, y significa Sistema de Posicionamiento Global. Tambi\u00e9n existen otros sistemas. El sistema militar ruso, por ejemplo, se llama GLONASS (Global Orbiting Navigation Satellite System), mientras que China ha desarrollado un sistema llamado BeiDou-2.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando se habla de sistemas de navegaci\u00f3n por sat\u00e9lite, un t\u00e9rmino que se encuentra a menudo es GNSS, que significa Sistema Global de Navegaci\u00f3n por Sat\u00e9lite. Este es el nombre gen\u00e9rico utilizado para describir cualquier sistema global de sat\u00e9lites que transmiten se\u00f1ales con fines de navegaci\u00f3n en la Tierra.
