NAVsuite 3.7 – available for download now

Company News March 31, 2023

NAVsuite 3.7 is now available to download from the OxTS support site.

NAVsuite is a complimentary software suite that allows OxTS Inertial Navigation System (INS) users to configure, monitor, post-process and analyse their INS data.

The launch of NAVsuite 3.7, sees the introduction of an updated software suite and accompanying firmware.

OxTS INS users with the new firmware, will now receive real-time gx/ix™ support for Galileo and BeiDou. Furthermore, there will be a number of user experience updates that you can find out more about below.

What is gx/ix™?

gx/ix™ is OxTS’ tight-coupling technology. Tight-coupling of the IMU and GNSS receiver will improve performance in conditions where there is regular interruption of GNSS signal. Thanks to the inertial relock and single satellite aiding capabilities of gx/ix™, users of OxTS INS devices, with the product enabled, will receive more accurate, reliable data for longer.

gx/ix™ is available to use in both post-process and real-time. With the launch of NAVsuite 3.7, real-time support for Galileo and BeiDou has been added.

This means that users of NAVsuite, with gx/ix™ enabled, will now be able to take advantage of two new satellite constellations when receiving real-time position updates. The more ‘good’ satellite signals you can use, the better your test results will be.

How does this affect me?

If you’re an ADAS test engineer then you may notice that more tests than ever before are being conducted on the open road. Testing on the open-road however can be more challenging than on the proving ground due to regular GNSS signal interruption. The more time spent without regular position updates from satellites, the more your data will degrade.

Real-time gx/ix™ support for Galileo and BeiDou means that as an ADAS test engineer you will achieve more accurate real-time data, for longer. This will be particularly noticeable in tough GNSS conditions.

If you’re a LiDAR surveyor, then you’re more than likely already accustomed to working in areas where GNSS signal dropout is a challenge. Pointclouds are only as accurate as the position and navigation data they receive. Therefore, intermittent GNSS signal can be a real problem. The more time spent without position updates from satellites, the less accurate a pointcloud will be.

Real-time gx/ix™ support for Galileo and BeiDou means that you will be able to monitor in real-time what proportion of your survey is within the accuracy you deem acceptable.

Furthermore, with support for Galileo and BeiDou now added to gx/ix™ in post-process as well as real-time, enabling gx/ix™ will increase the amount of time spent with centimetre-level accurate data, meaning more accurate pointclouds.

What else is new?

The release of NAVsuite 3.7 sees the introduction of a number of new user experience upgrades. These include, but are not limited to:

Extended support for CAN (29-bit identifier vs 11-bit indentifier) measurements

OxTS INS customers can now log data to their RT over CAN in a new format giving them added workflow flexibility.

Test and save .csv export update

NAVsuite 3.7 users can now export a .csv file in real-time and analyse their test in their own analysis software. Again, providing even more flexibility to the test workflow.

V2 to V3 configuration update

RT users can now no longer put a V2 config onto a V3 unit. This update will improve the user experience by preventing issues occuring when V2 configurations are used on V3 devices.
