OxTS supplies K-City with its test equipment for ADAS and autonomous vehicle test and development

Company News March 16, 2018

OxTS technology is set to take a critical role at one of the world’s largest autonomous vehicle test facilities following the purchase of its GNSS-aided inertial navigation systems (INS) by the Korean Automobile Test And Research Institute (KATRI) for its new K-City proving ground.

K-City, located in Hwaseong, south of Seoul, opened last year to help provide South Korea’s automotive industry with a global lead in the development of self-driving cars and ADAS technologies. Initially only the 79-acre simulated urban driving environment’s multi-lane highway facilities are operational, but the dedicated proving ground’s features are expanding to include city centre roads, buildings, road works, bus lanes, school zones and residential streets.

Magus Technology Corp., who represent OxTS in Korea, has supplied KATRI with several of its RT3002 and an RT-Range S system for ADAS testing at K-City. The RT3000 series has become the automotive industry standard for GNSS-aided inertial navigation systems. It is complemented by the RT-Range S multiple-target measurement solution, which can process the range, orientation and relative motion of a number of vehicles. OxTS products are used by car manufacturers across the world for the testing and validation of driverless cars and autonomous driving functions.
