ADAS V2L and V2V scenario tests with OxTS RT-Range Suite

The RT-Range software enables Engineers to configure accurate ADAS test scenarios, that are compatible with industry safety standards such as Euro NCAP, IIHS and others.

Engineers can survey lanes to generate map files, configure detailed 2D profiles of Hunter and Target vehicles, as well as map up to 12 independent sensor points and their field of view on the Hunter vehicle.

Alongside real-time monitoring systems and a post-processing application, the RT-Range software provides precise Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure measurements for end-to-end ADAS testing.

You can configure your Range system using default settings, reading from a file or from an online system, for both v2 and v3 products.

The wizard allows you to easily add targets, provide Hunter and Target physical dimensions, create detailed 2D polygons and add multiple sensor points. You can also define car lane measurements in relation to your INS and change some options to improve performance, like providing local co-ordinates.

When conducting Vehicle-to-Lane tests, such as Lane Departure Warnings, Overtakes or Autonomous lane merges, you can use the lane survey and map creation tools to build your environment.

Use your OxTS device to automatically drop lane markers by defined distances or times, or use triggers, in the Lane Survey Wizard. Then use the Map Creation tool to combine multiple line files, to create your map.

You can create and configure Range measurement displays to monitor Range devices in real-time. You can also use Bird’s Eye View, to see your Hunter and Target vehicles moving in context.

If using polygons and multi-sensor points you can also see how these interact with your Targets and fixed points as you move through your testing scenario, with key measurements displayed alongside. With 3 different views (Hunter, Plan and Origin) you can also track your Hunter and Targets in the way that makes most sense to you

Our multiple sensor point technology allows you to independently configure up to 12 sensors on your vehicle, saving significant time on the proving ground. It also helps you to run more complex scenarios in real-time, such as the visibility of vulnerable road users.

Multiple sensor points allows you to measure:

Range between sensor and closest point on polygon target
Percentage (%) of sensor view that is occupied by the target
Percentage (%) of the target visible to the sensor.

These measurements are logged internally and can be output via CAN and Ethernet in real time, so they can be logged by external data acquisition systems too.

You can use up to 24 points to create a detailed 2D outline of a test vehicle, kerb or pedestrian dummy when configuring your Range system. By creating a polygon you get a more representative view of it during tests than a single measurement point would provide. Using polygon points, you can measure the closest point between objects during test work.

For advanced vehicle safety tests such as Blind Spot Detection and Collision Detection at junctions, RT-Range computes the distance between the ‘Hunter’ vehicle and various points around a target vehicle or dummy’s polygon.

After you have completed your tests using RT-Range, you can use the post-processing wizard to extract lane and range measurements to CSV and change settings of your data such as the output rate, the unit of measurement or snipping the amount of data being processed.

You can also reprocess data to make amends to configurations, such as your A, B & C positions for lane measurements in LDW or overtake protocols. This is useful for adjusting to meet different measurement requirements or correcting errors in configuration.
