OxTS, a global leader in navigation solutions, today announced that its GNSS-aided Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) are now supported on the NVIDIA DRIVE autonomous vehicle (AV) development platform. The software plug-in, developed in-house by OxTS using the NVIDIA DriveWorks SDK, runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin developer kit.

The plug-in gives developers using NVIDIA DRIVE the ability to feed OxTS GNSS/INS data directly into the platform to access highly accurate reference localisation data as ground truth and validate the performance of the other sensors or algorithms under test.

“AVs need precise, accurate localisation information so they can operate safely,” said Paris Austin, Head of Product at OxTS. “With over 25 years of experience developing navigation systems, we’re excited to help NVIDIA DRIVE platform customers access leading-edge, dependable, ground-truth data to further their autonomous driving development journeys.”

A GNSS/INS is only one of a number of sensors required for an AV to operate. Combined, these sensors create a vast amount of data that needs to be synchronised, calibrated and centrally processed to ensure the vehicle operates safely. The OxTS GNSS/INS provides PTP time synchronisation and can act as the reference to calibrate all the other sensor data back for data analysis.

The GNSS/INS device supported on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform is the flagship OxTS RT3000 series, which is currently the ADAS and vehicle dynamics ground-truth reference system of choice for many automotive test and validation teams across the world.

The NVIDIA DRIVE platform is built on the DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip and is capable of processing up to 254 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of sensor data from a wide range of camera, lidar and radar devices.

“The OxTS GNSS/INS plug-in’s compatibility with the NVIDIA DRIVE platform provides automotive manufacturers and tier-1 suppliers with a high-performance, field-proven sensor with accurate localization capabilities necessary for safe AV deployment,” said Glenn Schuster, Senior Director of Sensor Ecosystems at NVIDIA.

Find more information about the OxTS NVIDIA DRIVE plug-in here – NVIDIA DRIVE NCOM Plug-In

[About OxTS]

With two decades of experience in combining the best of high precision GNSS receivers and world-class inertial navigation expertise, OxTS’ products have become the industry standard for automotive testing and are widely used in other industries.

The highly accurate RT3000 products are the equipment of choice for vehicle dynamics testing.
