Open-road

ground truthing

Accurate and integrated ground truth data, even in challenging environments

To analyse whether your car’s systems such as ADAS have triggered correctly – and if not, why – you’ll want an accurate picture of your vehicle-under-test’s (VUTs) true position, speed, heading, pitch and roll in real-life scenarios.

OxTS solution

The OXTS solution for open-road ground truthing

OXTS GNSS/INS is the market leader in ground truth data collection, widely used by OEMs and ADAS test houses. You can use our devices to collect accurate data, even in areas where GNSS signal is patchy or completely blocked.

With powerful features specifically designed for open-road data collection, you get a system that’s accurate, easy to use, and highly versatile.

  • Smooth, high-quality PNT data from ITAR-free hardware
Our GNSS/INS devices use careful calibration, sophisticated sensor fusion and an advanced navigation engine to deliver highly reliable data in a variety of environments, with form factors suitable for mounting on drones.
  • ADAS testing capabilities
Unlock specific features in your GNSS/INS such as CAN input, multiple slip angle points, and our unique real-time LiDAR aiding solution, LiDAR Boost.
  • Software to make your project easier
Our specialist ADAS testing software, RT-Range Suite enables you to configure, run, and process data from every test scenario, and view test data in real time. Our free NAVsuite applications allow you to configure and monitor your GNSS/INS quickly and simply.
  • Get the best data possible with our accessories
From installation mounts that ensure your GNSS/INS is positioned correctly to lane survey trolleys to accurately create your test scenarios, our accessories make testing as effective yet simple to manage as possible.

GNSS/INS features for open-road ground truthing

To maintain accuracy during an open-road data collection project you will need to overcome an ever-changing set of GNSS and environmental conditions. We suggest the following optional features when collecting data on the open-road:

  • gx/ix tight-coupling – Speeds up RTK reaquisition after transient but complete GNSS outage meaning more accurate navigation data for longer (see example below).
  • PTP and gPTP time synchronisation – Master and client functionality makes it easier to integrate your GNSS/INS into an existing payload.
  • External raw data logging – Log all the raw GNSS and IMU data to an external logging device, alongside the data from third-party sensors for simplified accuracy enhancements in post-process.
  • CAN input/output – Gain richer test insights and simplified analysis by logging data to/from your GNSS/INS via CAN.

gx/ix™ tight-coupling processing

An OXTS INS can integrate single-satellite aiding data into its navigation solution, and reduce the time taken to reacquire RTK lock, in real time. Using NAVSolve, you can reprocess your raw data and still benefit from gx/ix tight-coupling processing.

Tools for your project

01

NAVsuite

  1. Configure your OXTS GNSS/INS.
  1. Monitor the navigation data from your GNSS/INS in real time.
  1. Plot, analyse and export your test data.
02

LiDAR Boost

An advanced solution that uses data from any 32-laser, 360° LiDAR to compensate for missing or erroneous GNSS updates, either in post process or in real time. LiDAR Boost gives you better quality localisation data in GNSS-denied environments for georeferencing your survey data
