Today, OXTS is pleased to announce the launch of NAVsuite 3.15 and updated firmware xBNS 1.18 – delivering up to 40% improvements in usable data in urban environments.
Urban canyons, tunnels and other GNSS-challenged environments can make it difficult to maintain high-accuracy localisation. When satellite visibility degrades, positioning confidence can quickly follow.
That’s why we’ve developed a new generation of our gx/ix GNSS tight-coupling technology.
Available now in NAVsuite 3.15 and xBNS 1.18, this update is designed to improve the availability of high-accuracy positioning and heading performance in challenging GNSS conditions, helping you maintain confidence in your localisation data for longer.
Alongside the new gx/ix engine, this release also introduces expanded UCOM functionality, improved visibility into aiding sensor usage, and a simpler way to confirm system readiness.
Better performance when conditions aren’t ideal
gx/ix technology tightly integrates GNSS measurements with inertial data, helping maintain positioning performance when GNSS conditions begin to deteriorate.
The latest release introduces a redesigned gx/ix coupling engine, developed to improve performance in the environments where localisation is most heavily tested.
The new engine delivers:
- Improved availability of high-accuracy position modes
- Higher availability of accurate heading solutions
- Integer-level solutions using base stations up to 60 km away
- Faster recovery following temporary GNSS outages
Whether operating in dense urban environments or moving through tunnels and other areas of limited satellite visibility, the updated gx/ix engine helps maximise the amount of time your system can maintain high-confidence positioning.
Alongside the update in our firmware, NAVsuite 3.15 also includes a number of updated features including:
Expanded access to data through UCOM
NAVsuite 3.15 introduces significant enhancements to UCOM, our configurable alternative to NCOM.
This release substantially expands the available signal list, providing access to a wider range of navigation measurements. It also introduces access to raw IMU measurements before Kalman filtering, giving advanced users greater flexibility for analysis, development and integration workflows.
Greater visibility into aiding sensor performance
Many OXTS users rely on aiding sensors to improve navigation performance in challenging environments. Understanding when those inputs are actively contributing to the solution can be important during testing and optimisation.
NAVsuite 3.15 introduces three new GAD status signals within NCOM:
- Position aiding status
- Velocity aiding status
- Attitude aiding status
These indicators have been separated from GNSS status outputs, making it easier to see when GNSS and GAD aiding are being used simultaneously.
The release also includes the ability to enable or disable individual aiding streams in real time, helping users assess sensor contributions and optimise system configuration.
A simpler way to confirm system readiness
Knowing when a system is ready to collect high-quality data shouldn’t require checking multiple status indicators.
To simplify this process, NAVsuite 3.15 introduces a new Warm Up Complete status signal.
Presented as a simple yes/no indicator, it confirms that the system has completed its warm-up process and is ready for operation, removing the need to monitor multiple signals before starting data collection.
Available now in NAVsuite 3.15 and xBNS 1.18
The updated gx/ix engine, expanded UCOM functionality, enhanced aiding visibility and simplified readiness monitoring are all available now through NAVsuite 3.15 and xBNS 1.18.
Together, these updates are designed to help you maintain accurate, reliable localisation when conditions become challenging—providing greater visibility into system behaviour and more confidence in the data that supports critical decisions.
