During XPONENTIAL, OxTS Senior Business Manager, Simon Thompson will take to the stage to discuss using advanced localisation techniques to validate autonomous driving performance.
Presentation overview:
Although fully autonomous driving is still some way off from being available to the public, in the automotive industry manufacturers are introducing new driver assistance features on a regular basis.
Modern vehicles can perform automated functions such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keep-assist, park-assist and adaptive cruise control. These functions are tested extensively by the OEMs themselves and then by industry regulators before deployment.
Validation of any autonomous system needs to be conducted in a range of different environments from simulation all the way through to real-world testing. Test engineers need precise localisation data which can be synchronised with outputs from onboard sensors as a reference for performance data (perception, positioning, durability etc).
This session will highlight the challenges that engineers face when needing to validate autonomous driving performance in difficult real-world environments and then recommend the tools they can leverage to overcome them.
